Mid-Morning Skate: Jan. 26, 2013
The largest crowd of the season and possibly in franchise history is expected today to watch the Albany Devils battle the Adirondack Phantoms at Times Union Center at 2 pm. With a regulation win, the Devils will claim the Time Warner Cable Cup, which is awarded to the winner of the best-of-12, regular-season series.
Albany currently has a 5-1-0-1 record against Adirondack. If the Devils win today and then lose the final four games against the Phantoms, Albany still wins the tie breaker of points towards the standings.
According to the American Hockey League, since 1999 the largest Albany crowd was 8,911 on Apr. 9, 2000 when the River Rats hosted the Syracuse Crunch.
