Fri., Mar. 22: Albany 2 at Binghamton 5 (Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena)
Matt Anderson and David Wohlberg both scored during the Devils 5-2 setback against the Senators Friday at Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. In his fourth consecutive appearance, Keith Kinkaid made 23 saves.
Binghamton’s Shane Prince, Cole Schneider and Mike Hoffman helped the Senators jump out to a 3-0 advantage. Prince opened the scoring at 15:27 of the first on the power play. Schneider and Hoffman followed with goals at 3:13 and 4:01 of the second, respectively.
Moments later, Anderson got the Devils on the board with a wrist shot from the high slot at 10:48 and Wohlberg scored at 11:56 to make the score 3-2. Before the end of the period, Binghamton’s Corey Cowick scored on a two-on-one, shorthanded chance at 13:58. Schneider concluded the scoring with an empty-net goal at 18:51 of the third.
Sat., Mar. 23: Albany 1 at Syracuse 3 (War Memorial at OnCenter)
Jeff Frazee turned aside 33 shots on 36 attempts, but the Devils fell, 3-1, against the Crunch at the War Memorial at OnCenter. Frazee was tested early, making 11 stops in the first period. He followed with nine in the second and 10 in the third. Syracuse’s Riku Helenius registered his 16th win of the year. He made 27 saves on 28 shots.
The Crunch received first period goals from Vladislav Namestnikov at 13:39 and from Dan Sexton at 14:25. In the second, J.T. Brown moved the score to 3-0 at 14:00.
Matt Anderson spoiled Helenius’ shutout bid, scoring with 53.2 second remaining in regulation. Joe Whitney and Eric Gelinas were credited with the assists on the power-play goal.
Sun., Mar. 24: Albany 2 at Bridgeport 4 (Webster Bank Arena)
In the final game of their six-game road trip, the Devils lost, 4-2, to the Sound Tigers Sunday at Webster Bank Arena. Mike Sislo and David Wohlberg both scored and Keith Kinkaidstopped 27 shots.
Bridgeport’s Jordan Hill led his team with a pair of goals, while Sean Backman and Ty Wishart each potted power-play tallies. In goal, Rick DiPietro denied 19 of 21 attempts.
Hill and Backman netted the game’s first two goals at 10:37 and 13:46 of the first. Before the end of the period, Sislo got Albany on the board with a quick wrister at 19:36 off a fast break. In the second, the Sound Tigers added to their lead when Hill scored at 9:16 and Wishart found the back of the net at 16:18. Wohlberg responded on a delayed penalty at 19:15
